You can replace the Volvo key fob batteries yourself by following few steps. First, locate a clear working surface to complete the process. Lay out all the tools that you'll need. Locate the battery hatch and ensure that it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver, coin, or a similar tool to open the hatch to open. Then, carefully pull out the battery by lifting the side closest to the hook for the key-ring. Use rubber gloves to shield the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery has been removed, insert the new one in its socket. Make sure that the positive side is facing up and that it's seated in all of the clips. Then slide the cover back towards the key-ring loop until it is loose and then slides off. Remove the cover to reveal the hidden key blade.
